Growing Natural Gas Demand Presents Challenges
This is a graph showing how much natural gas the U.S.
consumes each year (yellow line) compared to how much
natural gas the U.S. produces each year (red line).
The gap between the lines shows how much natural gas
the U.S. must import to meet domestic demand. The bar
graph inset shows that imports of natural gas will increase
over the next 20 years. Natural gas is imported by pipeline
from Canada and by liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers
from several countries overseas.
